Cecilia Arbo Sosa is a photographer and mixed-media artist based in Piedmont, South Dakota. She is pursuing a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree with an emphasis in Photography at Black Hills State University. Arbo creates work that explores the human psyche using color and semiotics along with her ancestral roots and the culture of Paraguay. She uses a variety of materials and processes that allow her to physically interact with the surfaces of her work. While her work remains largely fine art in scope, she is also an active commercial photographer primarily focusing on still life imagery and product photography. Her inspirations vary from astronomy, Sci-Fi movies, and Paraguayan mythology. Currently, Arbo’s fine artwork challenges the viewer to look at situations from a different perspective and fight against the stereotypical perceptions of Paraguay by showing the beauty of its culture through alternative photographicprocesses.
